Camera On Notebook

Go Pro Project

As part of a technical communication team, I contributed to a full documentation redevelopment project for the GoPro HD Hero2 camera. Our goal was to modernize the User Guide, Quick Start Guide, and HTML Help system to improve accessibility, standardize formatting, and expand the product’s appeal beyond its existing niche audience of extreme-sport users.

Across the proposal and final deliverables, our team identified key weaknesses in the original documentation — including inconsistent “NOTES” and “TIPS” formatting, lack of clarity for beginner users, and limited explanation of when and why specific camera functions should be used. We proposed a complete revision strategy that included reorganized content, standardized callouts, expanded explanations of camera features, and improved visual hierarchy to guide readers more effectively.

My individual responsibilities included creating sections of the proposal, transforming the outline into a polished draft, designing visual elements such as logo concepts, drafting weekly status reports documenting team progress, and helping shape the structure and layout of the final document set. These reports reflect consistent collaboration through team meetings, outline development, drafting, editing, and coordination with the client and professor.

The finalized proposal detailed a multi-deliverable documentation package: a comprehensive 75-page User Guide, a 30-page Quick Start guide, and an online HTML Help resource intended to increase user satisfaction and support broader market adoption. These deliverables were supported by a clear methodology, production timeline, resource plan, and expected outcomes, including increased user comprehension and expanded consumer reach. Overall, this project showcases my experience in collaborative technical writing, document design, project coordination, and developing user-focused instructional materials for complex consumer technology.
