Logos

This collection of logos represents a cohesive exploration of personal branding, creative identity, and typographic artistry. The DF and DS monograms were designed as expressive variations of my initials, shaped by my long-standing love of calligraphy and letterforms with sweeping flourishes. The curves, loops, and decorative strokes emphasize movement and craftsmanship, while the fountain-pen nib and the small horizontal “text lines” echo my connection to writing, reading, editing, and the tools that have shaped both my creative and professional life. These elements aren’t just stylistic choices—they symbolize the work I love and the mediums I work within.

The feather motif is a central thread across all the designs, linking them visually and personally. Beyond its association with traditional quills and handwriting, the feather holds deeper meaning for me because of my maiden name, Fairweather, which has always reminded me of lightness, movement, and feather imagery. A former boss once gifted me a feather necklace because it made them think of me, reinforcing the symbol as something tied to my identity. Integrating feathers into these logos allowed me to weave that personal history directly into my visual style.

The Snow & Quill Café logo expands this aesthetic into a full brand concept. The calligraphic lettering preserves the sense of elegance and handcrafted detail found in the monograms, while the stylized quill forming the “Q” connects writing, creativity, and story. The open book beneath the quill reinforces themes of reading, imagination, and community—a perfect fit for a literary-leaning café. Taken together, these designs form a unified body of work that blends typography, symbolism, and personal meaning, illustrating how design can serve as both creative expression and a reflection of who I am.
